Lecturer in Community Counselling
Dr Julie Morsillo is a registered psychologist, an endorsed community and counselling psychologist, an approved supervisor with AHPRA, and has been a member of the Australian Psychological Society for well over 20 years.
Julie has been a foster parent and cottage parent, worked for the North-West One Stop Welfare Centre, Vic Equal Opportunity Commission, Vic Public Service Commissioner, International Commission of Jurists, International Red Cross and Whitley Theological College. She has also been an assistant primary teacher in Papua New Guinea, an adjunct lecturer in psychology and community development at Victoria University, the counselling co-ordinator at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and has her own private practice as a counselling psychologist and supervisor of provisional psychologists.
Julie grew up in Sydney, her parents became missionaries in Papua New Guinea, and she went to bible college when newly married in South Australia. She arrived in Melbourne with her husband and first baby son, nearly 40 years ago, and ever since has enjoyed being involved in the leadership and pastoral care team of her small Baptist church in Moreland (north-west Melb). Now she loves time with her grand-daughter, and time travelling around Australia and Europe.
Julie has worked at the college for a few years as an Adjunct Lecturer and is now a part-time Senior Lecturer, co-ordinating the new Master of Community Counselling course.
