The Casper test
Casper is an online, video scenario-based situational judgement test that allows students to demonstrate their suitability for a teaching career. Casper test results are valid for one admission cycle; August to the following July.
Eastern covers your Casper test fee
You are required to pay for the Casper test at the time of your test. This payment is made directly to Acuity who administer the test. This payment will be reimbursed to you once your enrolment at Eastern College Australia is completed.
What is Casper?
Institutions offering initial teacher education courses are required to select their students based on academic and non-academic criteria to determine suitability for teaching.
Casper (computer-based assessment for sampling personal characteristics) is a test that gives students applying for an initial teacher education course an opportunity to demonstrate their suitability for a teaching career. This also allows Eastern to get an understanding of a candidate’s suitability for teaching as Casper assesses the attributes considered essential for teaching.
Casper is made up of eight scenarios: two video-based scenarios and six text-based scenarios. Each scenario is followed by three open-ended questions. Test participants are asked to type in their responses within a time limit of five minutes.
The Casper test assesses the following non-academic attributes:
- communication
- collaboration
- ethics
- empathy
- equity
- motivation
- problem-solving
- professionalism
- resilience
- self-awareness
The Casper results are considered in conjunction with the New Student Interview and as a part of a full application process.
When do I need to sit the Casper test?
Casper test results are valid for 12 months – this provides 2 admission points where it can be used. You need to complete the Casper test as a part of your application process.
