Counselling

Study Counselling from a Christian perspective

Blending theology + therapy

Eastern College weaves together counselling theory and theology, equipping you to provide care that reflects both professional best practices and Christian principles. Discover how your faith can shape your approach to mental health, creating deep and meaningful connections with those you serve.

Why you should study Counselling at Eastern

Learn how to help others from your very first unit

At Eastern College Australia, the journey into the art of counselling begins from the very start with foundational units like ‘Introduction to Counselling’ and ‘Basic Counselling Skills’. These initial courses are designed to equip students with the essential techniques and knowledge needed to understand and support others effectively, setting a strong foundation for the rest of their studies.

Interactive workshops to practice counselling techniques

Eastern’s Counselling program emphasises hands-on learning through interactive workshops. These sessions allow students to practice and refine their counselling techniques in a supportive environment, preparing them for real-world applications. The workshops are integral to developing a practical understanding of how to apply theoretical knowledge effectively.

Collaborative, client-centred approaches

The curriculum includes units like ‘Strengths-based Collaborative Approaches to Counselling’, which focus on developing a collaborative and client-centred practice. This approach ensures that students learn to treat each client as an individual and tailor their techniques to meet specific needs, fostering a more effective therapeutic relationship.

Learn how to use your God-given gifts to provide care that is deeply personal and impactful

Eastern College integrates a Christian worldview with counselling practices, encouraging students to use their spiritual gifts to offer compassionate, personalised care. The program guides students to explore how faith influences their professional practice, enhancing their ability to make a deep and meaningful impact in their clients’ lives.

Develop through self-reflection and spiritual formation

The Counselling program at Eastern College is designed not just to teach skills but also to foster personal growth and spiritual development. Units such as ‘Integration of Vocation and Faith’ encourage students to reflect on their personal beliefs and values, integrating them into their professional lives, which is crucial for those looking to make a profound impact in the field of counselling.

Experience transformation that equips you to make an immediate difference in the lives of others

Students at Eastern undergo a transformative educational experience that equips them to start making an immediate difference upon graduation. The combination of practical field education with rigorous academic training ensures that graduates are ready to provide effective, empathetic counselling services from the moment they step into their professional roles.
